Just got a few things to unload about TF2 recently.

First of all, at least for Valve servers, rules for Capture the flag.

If as the end of the time, neither side has capped the intelligence 3 times, who do you think wins? Surely, the team that's capped the intelligence the most times, right?

Nope, it's the team with the highest points.

See a problem here? By doing this, you value getting kills over protecting and capping the intelligence and when teams get locked into stalemates due to endless sentries, snipers and heavy medic combos, the team that can just get easy kills will win.

Team fortress 2 is NOT Call of duty. The objectives come before the kills. Doing this only puts the kills before the objectives and encourages things like spawn camping.

And oh, that reminds me of a little incident I incurred today.

It was 2fort and we were doing ok. One particular player, Heavy, was doing a good job defending our base. So a member of BLU team decided to call him out on it, claiming he was "base camping."

I'm sorry, base camping? I was under the impression that we were supposed to be defending the intelligence.

I mentioned this, and he replied that if you want to defend the base, then go Engineer.

Because a team of engineers is always the best strategy, right? This even happened a few moments before I was attacked in the intelligence room and got my buildings blown up. So you need more than Engineers to defend, and honestly defending the base from attacks is kind of necessary when the enemy is consistently sending in Medic and Heavy combos of their own.

So once again this propagates kills over actually performing the objectives, which you sadly get a lot of in TF2. I honestly don't think base camping is a thing when it is your OBJECTIVE to defend your intelligence. You have to capture it too, sure, but there are better classes for capping like Scouts and Soldiers. And even then, sometimes it's simply impossible to enter the enemy base due to sentries, at least not without a Medic.

So am I a "Scrublord" for defending my base from attack? I wouldn't think so personally. But please, share your feelings too.
